Financing the PackMoney for Scouting comes from four general sources:
Cub Scouts need to develop an appreciation for money and how to earn, spend, share, and save it responsibly. The pack budget plan offers many practical suggestions for leaders to guide Cub Scouts in this important matter, and it lets families know exactly what benefits they are receiving from the dues they pay. The budget plan teaches boys to earn their own way, to save for immediate needs, and to appreciate the value of money. Pack Dues Typically, Cub Scout Packs collect weekly dues at the den meetings. In our fast paced world, this presents a challenge to Den Leaders who are already running a very busy program and to the Treasurer who has to manage all of the individual payments. Pack 137 has chosen to implement a hybrid solution which attempts to simplify the dues collection process without sacrificing the practical money lessons for the Cub Scouts. We ask the Cub Scouts to earn their dues at home or outside of the home and pay their parents on a weekly basis, earmarking those funds for Cub Scouts. The cost for the full year of Scouting is $60 per Cub Scout. Annual Fund Raising The Great Southwest Council has elected to use the sale of Popcorn as the fundraising vehicle of choice for Cub Scouting. Popcorn sales occur in the months of September and October. |
