Cub Scouting is NOT a Sideline Sport
A well-run Cub Scout Pack takes leaders (volunteers to work
with the boys), committee members (volunteers to handle
the administration of the Pack) and special task appointees
(volunteers that handle one-time events).
Which Cub Scout Pack sounds better to you and will be more
interesting for a young boy? - One that is teaming
with lots of purposeful activites designed to help them
have fun while developing critical life skills, or one that is
constant running short of resources where only a few
parent/volunteers contribute and consequently the ones that do
contribute eventually burn-out because of overload.
When everyone pitches in, the work load is lighter for
everyone - and the more fun you and your Cub Scout will have
because you both have something invested in the process.
It is a mistake to assume that someone else is going to help
- Pack 137 needs your help. There is a training for
every position and help is always available. Cub Scouting
is not a spectator sport - parental support is essential
and required. Scouting has a 100+
year track record of helping boys develop life and
leadership skills - it's hard to argue with success.
